Needle Love

I made April a needle book like the one I use here all the time and she posted it on her blog. I had been secretly working on not only hers, but one for my art sister, Jane as well. She has not seen nor does she even know hers is complete, so here it is! My own needle case has a dragonfly on the cover so I customized the two I made. April has an owl and Jane's is blue with houses on it. Here' the cover:
Inside the front cover to hold embroidery scissors and the first page is a pocket for needle threaders:
The next pages are for the needles, beading and crewel:
sharps and tapestry....
The back cover personalized:

Now I just have to get it to her!

Embroidery Heaven!

I am taking a class over at Joggles taught by Sharon B. I just visited her blog and AM IN LOVE WITH HER EMBROIDERY WORK! Such fabulous, delicious, amazing work............ there aren't enough superlative adjectives to describe what she does. Not only does she show her work, but she gives mini tutorials on embroidery stitches. Who knew there were SO many fantastic stitches to be worked! Please visit her blog..........eye candy that is non-fattening!

Little books

A couple of days ago I had the urge to make some more little books so I started sorting through my paper "scraps" which means any paper that has been cut for another project. I decided on four different sized pages and started whacking away. I ripped canvas a little big larger than the pages then sewed the two pieces of canvas together with two colors of quilting thread. I sewed 6 pieces of paper/card stock for a signature and done! Not sure if I will add to them, that was the plan, but we shall see.
My bittiest book is only 2 inches square:

Spring break and journals

Ahhhhhhhhh....spring break.......sleeping in (yeah, right!)............making art.............wishing I was in Virginia..............
But anyway....... I spent the day over at Jane's creating one of her new journals, the Double-Double. She's teaching this class over at Frenzy Stamper. You must go, it's fab! Thanks, Jane!
Several weekends ago over at April's I started this journal and then finished the signatures over at Jane's. Jane gave me the blue dragonfly that was just the right size and color for the cover. The cover was actually too big this time so I filled it with multiple signatures.

I recently signed up for a class over at Joggles and purchased some embroidery supplies for Sumptuous Surfaces by Sharon Boggon. I was WAY impressed with the speed of delivery from this web store. I ordered the supplies on a Saturday and received them the next Monday. Holy cow! They were packaged lovingly in tissue paper and baggies. Very impressive! Keep Joggles in mind when you need some mixed media/doll-making/embroidery supplies.
