Painted Graffiti Journal

I've been busy the past week or so playing with, I mean babysitting, Dylan back in AZ but did manage to get some art completed during his naptimes. Mostly I worked on a journal from Dina Wakley's The Graffiti of My Life online class. With drying times it took several days to complete. It's not actually "finished" as I haven't put any graffiti in it. I'll do that when I get home later this week. I also have to work on the "pesky birds" from Dina's class here at Creative Quest that both April and I took. Here's the cover of the journal, the one thing I added to the cover pieces was one of the paper towels I used to blot up the spray ink:
One of the page spreads (using watery paint, inks, gesso, and stitching):
The next three photos are close-ups of some of my favorite add-ins (using paint, ink, gesso, collaged papers, and more stitching):
There is a small piece of the paper towel peeking from behind the stencil:
Loved how my collaged sheet came out, here is one of the hand cut hearts:

  1. It truly looks fab! And just practice the birds...practice makes perfect. ;)

  2. Thank you! I plan to make more, I had never done the coptic stitch binding before. I WILL practice the birds when I get home.... will keep you updated on how it goes.

  3. Love these too..the pages are fantastic...the stitching is great..! and the paper towel..!
